What I Have Learnt

Throughout this project I (Muriam Fancy) have learnt about the injustice and prejudice against First Nations, the real Canadians.  Sadly, they face this injustice and prejudices at the hand of follow Canadians.  I’ve learnt about how the federal government has ignored its own people to the point of poverty similar to those found in a third world nation. Canada is the 3rd best place to live in the world and the First Nations on the scale are 47th. The federal government is responsible for the housing of First Nations yet they are living in horrible conditions with no heating or running water.

I have learnt how the federal government is ignoring its own people and they are not in any way helping or taking responsibility for their actions. It was sickening and morally disturbing for me to learn that First Nations children receive less than half of the amount the rest of Canadians kids receive for their education. I have also learnt that just like we hide mess under the rug, the federal government has hidden their mess in northern Ontario.  I have learnt that our government is unreliable and corrupt and power and money are its driving force, not morality.  Through this charity I have made a difference for the people of KI, but much more needs to be done.

We have disregarded a whole group of people who are living in another world but they are our brothers and sisters, our neighbours.
